Next year marks the 120th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower. To celebrate, the French will be adding a gigantic webbed Kevlar observation deck to the top, doubling the size of the deck and making the Eiffel Tower look like some sort of alien space needle.

The addition isn't permanent ... but remember the Eiffel Tower itself wasn't permanent ... and the sparkling lighting neither ... who knows this might stay on top.


A fancy hat or an early April Fool's joke, what say you?

    I can't see the French being happy with this idea. But I guess we'll just have to see...
    I cannot wait to go to Paris! Just 2 more years...

    Haha. I think it'll be quite a cool idea. But i doubt it'll last long. It looks really weird to see history meet modern architecture.. You're really lucky to be able to fly to Paris. I can't wait for my turn to travel Europe.

    I am not quite sure that I like this idea. To my mind, the Eiffel Tower looks great as it is.
